The gas light in my '02 Lincoln Blackwood is constantly lit up & won't go off, even with a full tank of gas?
My truck's gas light won't turn off for some reason, even though I've got plenty of gas in it. Even if I've got a full tank, the light stays illuminated in the instrument panel. When I start the truck up, even after all the other lights have gone off, the gas light won't turn off. There's no gas leaking from the truck either. I took it to the Lincoln dealer here in Dallas over the weekend and they can't even get it in to be looked at until the end of the week since they are so booked. They said it could be numerous things causing the light to stay on, but it should still be safe to drive. The fuel gauge isn't doing anything out of the ordinary, it acts like it's supposed to. It's just the light itself isn't turning off. Y'all have any ideas as to what be causing my truck to do this? This is the first major problem I've really had with it. I'm just hoping the dealer finds nothing major with it.
the light is on a grounding switch in the tank. either the switch is stuck (part of the sending unit) or the wire is broken and grounding out.
