How come many people don't realize that people from around the Great Lakes have a strong accent?
The East Coast and Southern Accents seem to be well carved into the mind of most Americans, but how come many people still think that the people from around the Great Lakes don't have an accent?
Thanks for the responses so far!
@Jill: I realize that, but some accents are in fact associated with "General American" and many people still include the Great Lakes accent to it even though it sounds very different.
@CP: Thanks for the link! It is indeed the way Great Lakers pronounce the open O that most immediately reveals that they're from the region.
Alot of people have accents and don't notice them cause they always talk like that, to them you might have a weird accent.
