Stabbed my leg by accident..?
Well today in school, we were doing a project with an XACTO-knife and I went to get a cutting board, with the blade in my hand, and I guess I accidently bumped into the table, and the whole blade stabbed into my skin. Now the cut is on the outer part of my right thigh, and I guess halfway up from my knee to my crotch, the cut is about a half inch in length but it is rather deep. Now I've had my Tetanus shot last year, so i'm not worried about that. I went immediately to my school nurse, and she attempted to close it up after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. She closed it up with a stereostrip, and a band aid over it.
My leg really hurts bad when I put weight on it, and it felt numb before, how would I know if it is infected or not?
it would not likely be infected already, but once it does it will ooze pus and not smell good. It will get really red and obvious. As it starts to become more infected the redness will spread away from the cut. It's a deep cut that was cleaned with alcohol, it is bound to hurt pretty badly, just keep it clean and keep an eye on it for another day or so before you really start worrying.
