Is there a pen that can write on metal?
I made some gift tags out of soda cans, and I found an ink pad for my stamp that is specifically designed for metal and plastics, so is there a pen that is also designed specifically for metal and if so, where can I get it and is there a specific brand that you know of? Regular ball-point pens don't even show up and I tried a drawing pen and it doesn't bond to the metal so it just wipes off even after I've given it some time to dry. I appreciate any help you may offer me!
I agree that a Sharpie might work. There's a varnish applied to the inside of aluminum cans to prevent the contents from causing the metal to corrode and that's what's preventing anything from sticking. See if you can use steel wool or fine sandpaper to get it off as the coating is very thin.
Another option is paint marker that can be found at a welding supply or maybe at a good auto parts store. They use them to label metal parts but aren't meant to be neat, just readable.
You could also try spray painting one to see if you can get a marker to show up on that, too.
