A Poem - Trail of Tears - Do You Like?
Come sit by my knee young Listen to a true tale Closer, feel my warm breath Banish the cries of the wind [that white pines you speak? Does it offer a branch?] It was 1831 when the transformation began amassed Our people and forced the Travel the Northwest Oklahoma Promises on hopes for autonomy for the fertile land with wild animals away, we led the Trail of Tears (bend now Yes branch, a circle is born] Sleeting ice and frozen ground thousands stolen our tribe prosper Yet we prevailed [your knots are tight, the tendon stretches Catching beads and nightmares) Always remember my young Choctaw You are a brave survivor
I always liked your Western / Indian poems theme, this is no different. Maybe some editing would be more critical as the only line 4: "chasing the wind howling? Second verse you start to tense and then drop the plural the singular to the next line? etc.
