Pine Panels

I used oil based primer for knotty pine paneling - can I use latex paint over it?

I recently primed our 1947 knotty pine paneling (lightly sanded first) with an oil-based primer. It covered pretty well, but was so messy! Anyway, I bought some latex, eggshell paint to go over it and am second-guessing myself. Will latex paint adhere to oil based primer? I've searched other answers on here and people say "yes" and "no." Which is it? Professional painters, are you out there?

Thanks so much!

Wrong question. Answer to wrong question; Yes you can paint latex over non-shiny oil primer, if it is shiny light sand it and wipe off the dust.
Right question. Am I ready to paint? Answer: No. You will find the sap from knotty pine will stain through most if not all oil based primer. You need to prime the knot holes with shellac. Clear, white or orange it doesn't matter. Shellac will penetrate into the knot and stop the sap from migrating out and staining the latex paint. Good Luck!
