How do I fret a blank piece of rosewood for an Electric Guitar?
I am due to start a project to build a guitar - I have most of it planned - but I know I am going to have trouble with the neck - the neck type that I want I am unable to find pre-fretted. I need to know what tools I'll need and where I can get them. (In the UK preferably) I also call upon you for any tips you may have to share to help me get by. The guitar I'm making is going to be a Left Handed SG Epiphone.
The make or break of guitars.more to it than you might think.Traditionally set out using "the rule of eighteenth".The vibrating string length is divided by 18 to locate the first fret.the remainder is divided by 18 to give the second fret,and so on.Trouble is the right divider is 17.835.so it's a compromise.Best bet is a company called"Ibex",they make a dividing ruler marked with fret positions for all scale lengths.I'd suggest buying 'build your own electric guitar"by Bill Foley or something simmilar.Like I stated,there's a hell of a lot more to it than u think.
