What type of manhole cover is provided in the water tank in your house,a cement slab or an iron cover?
Most of us are ignorant of some details about our own house.
Fresh water and sewage systems are among them.
In the tank top if a cement slab or iron cover is not secured with a hinge or some locking arrangement,
It is very dangerous.A heavy wind will drop it on someone's head.The safety on this is generally ignored by builder and Government.
Any breach of safety you have noticed in your house or other buildings?
Many Houses have concrete slabs for the overhead water tanks. at Indian especially chennai it is not posses any danger. only a tornado kind of wind can pull from through away. even heavy cyclones seems to be no threat for concrete slabs, N.B. the slab has to be fitted properly over the tank.
Iron cover. the cast iron cover generally used for Manholes (drainage or ground Level water tanks) not much on the overhead water tanks. even if the wight is not easy to take out of its stand (kind of self lock). usually two people required open the manhole without much strain .
Now many houses going for Plastic tanks which have locking facility.
the dangerous once are tin sheet / asbestos sheet coverings. that can be throwed by the heavy wind , in fact many incidents hap pend like that.
