What if any are the symbols painted on wooden shoes?
I have a image of a house and a windmill, etched and painted in the wood.
Hi! When I was 18 years old I worked for a woman from Sweden. Every trip over there, she carried an "order list" from all of the employees for what size and color of clogs to bring back for us. This was in 1970, before clogs were even the rage. Truth is, they have always been kind to feet and backs of people who stand all day at their work.
Clogs from Sweden have been traditionally painted in a style called Kurbits Painting. You may read more about it at this link to a small store that provides this unique service in Lindsborg, Kansas. Lindsborg is an artistic, creative little town on the Kansas Prairies, settled in the 1800s by immigrants from Sweden. I love to spend the day there!
