Is this child labor?
My family owns a restaurant and they work as hard as they can. But now since they city I'm lving in is getting bigger and bigger more restaurants have opened and closed. Well, I'm only 12 and my bro, and lil sis work. We are not forced to work like they will punish us if we don't work. But I'm getting sick of ppl ctritcizing my parents for not having much money to hire workers. My dad is a wood carver, a chef, a constrution worker, and dedicated man to his family and he even makes us to go to a school that we actually have to pay to get in. (3,00 per month for 3 people). Then one time, a guy came to this restaurant and saw my lil sis snappin beans and they whispered child labor. I got mad but kept it inside. Now I also can't hang out with my friends becuz i have to work and have b-ball practice. Am i just complaining or is it true that my parents are guilty for making us work? Should I inform them?
No it's not child labor- you're parents work hard to give you a good full life. It sounds like your father is trying to give you the best education he can while also encouraging good work ethics in you and your siblings. As long as you are helping in the restaurant because you want to be there- or because you know your parents need the help without fear of being punished then your family is doing just fine.
