How is publishing your own work relevant to society today?
This is a writing course my friend needs help lol - not lying. There is an issue to publishing your own books or go to the agencies. So, how to publish your own relevant work today?
Self-published writers rarely sell more than 5-10 copies of their books, which means they will not return the cost to print them. A best-seller "in the pub car world is a title that sells about 100 copies. A bestseller in the world of commercial publishing sells thousands and going to a second or third printing. SLEF pub-books are rarely, if ever, discussed in magazines as editor Weekly or Mid-West Book Review or the New York Times. Self-pubbed books are not available in bookstores. Most libraries to deny the variance of self-pubs. They simply do not have the space to devote to May books never seen a professional publisher. Self-published writers can not join professional organizations like the Writers Mystery Writers of America, the authors Guilds, the Romance Writers of America, science fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, etc. etc. As a self-pub is not a sales pro! Self-published writers do not receive the same respect as the author of a book commercially published. The thought is: "If your book is so good, why could not you sell it? It must not be good, then. Writers Self-pub, making sales, are allowed to market their books en masse, which costs them time to write (no new books) and money, which may never be recovered by sales. So for me - I am a professional writer - self-publishing is only for the impatient, vulgar, or a writer with a niche for his works. (As a genealogist write a family story.) Obeyed the law's Yog: the flow of money to the writer. means that you never pay to get published, pay a fee agent, or pay to enter a writing contest. There is also the danger of being tricked. I will always recommend that new writers hone their craft to the best of their ability and attempt get an agent or to present their works to publishers. Just because they wrote a book does not mean it is commercially viable. You should keep it. Thus, the editing - especially if you are an unknown - is usually an exercise in futility and a quick way to bankruptcy. Now - as it happens, I self-pubbed a book earlier this year. However, I sold 23 novels and have a sizable readership. I count on them to want to buy a signed, limited edition Book according to my best selling series. However, in four months, I sold about 300. For a self-pub is a blockbuster. At least I made back my printing costs! But my last commercial release novel St. Martin's Press (a large publishing company) has sold 5,000 copies its first month of release. It is in bookstores, it was considered by magazines and on various sites it is selling on Amazon and it was bought by libraries, making it much more success!
